Alcohol and Spirituality?

Do you think alcohol is harmful to a person's spirituality? Enlightenment is about seeing things clearly, without the heavy veil of the mind... But it seems like alcohol just clouds your mind even more... you might feel better... you might feel carefree... but being intoxicated just makes you fall below sobriety and the continuous mental and emotional noise... spirituality is about rising above all of that.... What do you think?
