Help with making a series circuit...?

I've got this science project to do....and i have to make a series circuit. I've bought all the materials i need :wires, alligator clips, light bulbs (two of them is 2.4V and one of them is 3.6V), 3 1.5V battery.(I don't have a switch and am not going to buy one) Anyway, i started to make my circuit, but before that, i checked to see if the light bulbs were fine and i it WAS. But when I joined up the 2 or 3 light bulbs together, only one of them would light up. I thought this was because there was not enough power from the battery, so i added another battery but still only one of light bulbs shone very BRIGHTLY. Can someone please tell me how to make three of the light bulbs shine properly TOGETHER? Please and thanks heaps!! And please give accurate, simple instructions.
