Need info on slander/defamation of character?

My friend's boyfriend is a mentally and emotionally abusive jerk. He has isolated her from all friends but me. Now he is trumping up bogus allegations that i deal drugs. Best part, he is a cop. He has told this to other cops and found to be untrue. What is my recourse?
