Why do guys in bands date "plain jane" girls instead of girls from their particular subculture or music scene?

I guess you have never heard the term 'Never judge a book by it's cover." Just because you walk the walk doesn't mean there is anything else there for the band guy to like. Most of their girlfriends have a life other than the band their boyfriend is in, yet know exactly how to keep him interested enough to have hooked him. Sometimes less is more.
