When do women start the menopause can it start at say age 38 ish?

i think ive started mine early. my periods are all over the place some times really heavy then only very light for just a couple days..my cheeks feel so hot to touch and im moody..more so than usual..can it be early ..i haven't had children and ive been on anti depressants for a while...o and ive missed my periods for nearly 11 years.....because of stress and violence at home.....
